I just had the pleasure of shooting a publicity session for Larry Maltz, Jazz Guitarist, for his soon to be released solo CD. Larry has performed and recorded with numerous small Jazz groups, Rhythm and Blues bands, Bluegrass/Country, and show bands as well as solo venues. He has appeared with many club and society bands including Jerry Vivino (Conan O’Brien Show), Cabot Scott, Craig Scott, Sister and Brother, Roy Crosse, Diane Moser, and Mario Rodriguez (Gato Barbieri). You can hear Larry’s evocative and emotional playing on these recordings: Anthony Ingemi: The Ocean (1997); Carlos Francis: Good Vibes at the 12th Circle; Roy Crosse: A Taste Of Latin; Diane Mosers Composers Big Band: Live at Tierneys. Larry is also recording a Jazz guitar duo CD with guitarist Flip Peters. Kerry-Lou and I love Larry’s playing so much that we suggested Kerry’s daughter Jennifer contact Larry to play at her up-coming wedding. Larry performs constantly in the NY, NJ area and can be reached for personal appearances at LarMaltz@aol.com.
Soft spoken and humble, Larry prefers to let his guitar do the talking…and singing…and screaming. I wanted his portrait to reflect the down-home charm of a true musician. There was no crew, no Hair and Make-up team, just Larry playing tasteful licks on his beautiful custom made guitar throughout the afternoon. We used natural light supplemented with reflectors and I concentrated on mood and authenticity.
